The SLAMdam® is a water-filled flood defence system, which can be used in flood risk situations. The SLAMdam® is composed of flexible material (i.e. EPDm), creating a sufficient seal at all subsoils, whether it is asphalt or pastureland. The SLAMdam® can be installed without difficulty.

FAST DEPLOYABILITY AS STARTING POINT

The SLAMDAM® was constructed with a focus on practical dimensions and easy assembly. Thanks to the compact transportation boxes, the SLAMDAM® is also easy to transport. This allows fast deployability of the SLAMDAM® for various purposes. Also on locations that are less easy to reach. The great benefit of SLAMDAM® compared to traditional sandbags, for instance, is that far less transportation and human effort are required to construct an emergency dam, quickly and effectively. Also in case of calamities, the SLAMDAM® will allow fast deployability. It will be possible to build a reservoir in no time, e.g. around a location where contaminated extinguishing water may pose a threat to the direct vicinity.

A SIMPLE CONSTRUCTION AS STARTING POINT

The SLAMDAM® excels in its simplicity. The highly stretchable EPDM material forms the basis for two connected compartments – by means of a specially developed membrane – that have to be filled with water simultaneously. This will create a very solid emergency dam.

When water exerts external pressure on the SLAMDAM®, the compartment under stress is pushed ‘slightly’ upwards, whereupon the second compartment ‘slots in’, thereby ensuring the requisite counterpressure. This counteracts a lever-effect. Moreover, this will enable the SLAMDAM® to provide maximum resistance to pressure exerted by high water levels.

A UNIQUE CONSTRUCTION, FULLY PATENTED

The apparently simple design of the SLAMDAM® is reflected its outward appearance. Nonetheless, its unique characteristics are out of sight. A ‘temporary’ dam should have at least one specific characteristic, namely that it will remain stable and in place during flooding or disasters.

With SLAMDAM®, you can rest assured that it will do so, as it contains two tubes which must be filled at the same time. A specially developed intermediate membrane forms two compartments—two compartments that reinforce one another. When water exerts external pressure on the SLAMDAM®, the compartment under stress is pushed upwards slightly, whereupon the opposing compartment ‘slots in’ underneath, thereby ensuring the requisite counterpressure. This counteracts a lever-effect.

Due to its unique construction, the SLAMDAM® is optimally stressed when the water level is high and, as opposed to other systems, it barely moves when in use. In addition, the flexibility of the material ensures that the system can be used on any surface. While the systems currently on the market are limited to a level disparity of 15 mm, SLAMDAM® has no such limitation.
