An inside look at shelter system solutions that meet an immediate need for humanitarian aid (Disaster Relief and Refugee Relief) in affected countries.
Immediate solutions for refugee and disaster relief
Not since the Second World War have there been so many refugees or internally displaced people (IDPs) around the globe. According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the latest figures reported in 2016 estimated there are over 65 million refugees and IDPs worldwide. And the numbers are growing on a daily basis.
Considered a short-term solution with the aim of meeting basic human needs, most disaster and refugee camps are established by a government entity, the United Nations, or an international relief organisation (such as the Red Cross, religious or other international relief non-profits). Most countries have an immediate need for shelter solutions for this growing population of forcibly uprooted people, whether it be from war, persecution, conflict or natural disasters.
Our expert partner in Expeditionary Systems (proven, reliable and safe shelter solutions) is equipped to aid the International Community in providing temporary shelter for relief and humanitarian aid where it’s needed most…..quickly and efficiently.
Why the immediate need?
The International Community is facing an unprecedented number of displaced people as the result of military conflicts and natural disasters. This has prompted many countries to open their borders and provide a location to establish temporary shelter and relief camps.
When individuals and families are displaced, rushing aid and restoring a sense of home to those who need it most carries the greatest urgency. Shelter is a vital survival mechanism in times of crisis or displacement. It is also key to restoring personal security, self-sufficiency and dignity.
